Frequently Asked Questions

While PAT testing itself isn't specifically required by law, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that all electrical equipment is maintained in a safe condition. PAT testing is the most effective way to demonstrate compliance with these regulations.

Testing typically takes 2-5 minutes per item depending on complexity. We can usually test 50-100 items in a half day. We offer out-of-hours testing to minimize disruption to your business.

Failed items receive a "FAIL" label and should not be used. You'll receive an immediate email alert. We can often perform minor repairs on-site, or advise on replacement. Failed items are removed from service until repaired or replaced.

Just ensure all equipment is accessible and unplugged where possible. We'll handle everything else including labelling, testing, and digital record keeping.

PAT testing is specifically for portable appliances with a plug. Fixed installations and hard-wired equipment require a periodic fixed wire inspection (EICR). We can provide both services - contact us for more information.
