EB IT Support LTD Achieves Verified Publisher Status — What This Means for You

We're proud to announce that EB IT Support LTD has achieved official Verified Publisher status, meaning both our Remote Support Software and our EBMA (EB Managed Agent) software are now digitally signed with a trusted code-signing certificate issued by Certum (certum.pl).

This is something we've worked hard to put in place, and we want to take a moment to explain exactly what it means for you and why it matters.

What Is a Verified Publisher?

When you download and run software on a Windows computer, you may have noticed a security prompt appearing before the program opens. This prompt is Windows checking whether the software has been digitally signed by a trusted and verified organisation.

If the software is signed, Windows will display the publisher's name — in our case, you will see EB IT Support LTD. If the software is not signed, Windows will simply say "Unknown Publisher," which can be a warning sign that the software hasn't been verified by anyone.

By obtaining our Verified Publisher certificate through Certum, we are now able to prove to Windows — and to you — that our software genuinely came from us and hasn't been tampered with.

How to Verify Our Software Yourself

When running either our Remote Support Software or EBMA, you can confirm it is genuine by checking the Windows security prompt for the following details:

Verified Publisher: EB IT Support LTD Certificate Authority: Certum (certum.pl)

If the publisher name shown is anything other than EB IT Support LTD, do not proceed. Close the window immediately and contact us on 01205 627240.

Why We Built Our Own Software

We've always been uncomfortable with the idea of using third-party remote access tools like TeamViewer, Quick Assist, or RealVNC for customer support sessions. These tools are widely misused by scammers who pretend to be legitimate IT companies, gain access to a customer's computer, and then manipulate them into transferring money or handing over sensitive information.

By developing our own Remote Support Software, we've put control firmly back in your hands. Our two-step PIN system means that no one — including us — can connect to your computer without your active permission. You generate the access code, and you can end the session at any time.

Our Verified Publisher status takes this a step further. It means that when you download our software, you have an independent, third-party verified confirmation that it genuinely came from EB IT Support LTD.

Introducing EBMA and EBMA Guard

For customers on one of our managed IT support contracts, we also deploy EBMA — our EB Managed Agent software. EBMA allows our team to proactively monitor the health of your device, apply security patches automatically, and respond to issues before they become problems for you.

EBMA also includes EBMA Guard, our built-in antivirus protection. EBMA Guard automatically activates when no other antivirus software is detected on your computer. If you already have antivirus software installed — such as Norton, Bitdefender, or Windows Defender — EBMA Guard will automatically disable itself to prevent any conflicts. You don't need to configure a thing.

Like our Remote Support Software, EBMA carries the same Verified Publisher signature, so you can always confirm it is genuine before it runs.

A Word on Scams

We want to be clear about something that we feel very strongly about. Scammers frequently use legitimate-looking remote access tools to trick people — particularly older or more vulnerable individuals — into giving them access to their computer. Once connected, these scammers have been known to instruct victims to log into their online banking, claiming they need to "process a refund" or "reverse a charge." This is always a scam.

EB IT Support will never:

  • Contact you unexpectedly claiming something is wrong with your computer
  • Ask you to open your online banking during a support session
  • Request payment via bank transfer during a remote session
  • Ask for your banking PIN, passwords, or card details
  • Send pop-ups to your screen

All legitimate contact from us will come from 01205 627240 or [email protected]. If you ever receive a call or message that doesn't feel right, hang up and call us directly to verify. (please do this from another phone line such as a mobile, or landlin).

What This Means Going Forward

Our Verified Publisher status is not just a technical milestone — it's a commitment to transparency and trust. We believe our customers deserve to know exactly who is accessing their computer and why, and our signed software is one more way we back that up.

If you have any questions about our software, your security, or anything else covered in this article, please don't hesitate to get in touch with our team on 01205 627240 or at [email protected].

We're always here to help.

— The EB IT Support Team
